Workshop: Exploration Station Shawl

10:00 am – 12:00 pm Fridays: August 21st, September 11th, October 2nd

Exploration Station is a dramatic shawl knit in four colors. While knitting this top-down,
semi-circle shawl, Pam Grushkin will teach you shortcut rows, two-color brioche ribbing, slipped stitches,
stripes, and a chevron border. As an added twist the designer, Stephen West, uses an i-cord tab cast on and an
i-cord edge as you knit. It will change the way you border your shawls! What a terrific opportunity to test out
these different techniques in small doses. Let the exploration begin.

Pattern: Exploration Station by Steven West

Intermediate Skill Level: must be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, work a variety of stitch patterns with combinations of knits and purls, basic lace, simple color changes, increases/decreases, follow written instructions independently, and finishing.

Supplies: Fingering weight yarn in four colors (We suggest Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light; Hedgehog Fibres Sock):

Color A: 275 yds
Color B: 200 yds
Color C: 185 yds
Color D: 260 yds

US #6, 40” circular, stitch markers, pattern available on Ravelry or through the shop.

Taught by Pam Grushkin:  I love to share my passion for knitting and crochet through teaching and designing.  My designs have been published in Vogue Knitting, Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarn, One + One Hat, One + One Wraps, Cowls, & Capelets, Tahki Stacy Charles and independently as Pam Grushkin Designs. In 2004 I began to work at Knit Together in Stamford, CT.  It was there that I created Stitch and Chat. A class dedicated to supporting knitters and crocheters.  Since then I have built a rich curriculum of classes that range from beginner to intermediate.
