Workshop: Veronika by Cocoknits

1:30pm – 3:30pm Fridays: August 28th, September 11th, October 2nd & 23rd

Veronika is a swoncho (sweater/poncho) that would be versatile in cotton/linen as a transition piece or wool/blends for cool summer nights and crisp fall days.
Per the designer, “Veronika is light and swingy, not at all fitted yet with snug cuffs that make her easier to wear than a poncho. She’s easy to throw on over almost any outfit, so you’ll find yourself reaching for her
again and again. The front and back curves are created using short rows. After the curves, everything is joined, and the pattern is seamless and circular all the way up.”

Techniques covered will include a provisional cast on, the yarnover method of short row shaping, and a smooth bias bind off.
To make the most of class time, please knit a gauge swatch and discuss it with the teacher before class so that she can make needle adjustments as needed.

Pattern: Veronika by Cocoknits

Adventurous Advanced Beginner (and up) Skill Level: must be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, work basic stitch patterns with combinations of knits and purls, simple increases/decreases, and follow written instructions.

Supplies: Any fingering (held doubled) or DK weight yarn that gets gauge. Note: if you plan to add length, please purchase more yarn. US #6 circ 36" or longer, US #5 circ or DPNS for cuffs and collar, stitch markers, darning needle, and pattern available on Ravelry or through the shop.

**Homework: With US #6 needles, cast on 30 sts and work 30 rows in st-st. The blocked swatch should measure 6” wide x 4” tall. Work instructions for back up to the short row section. Sleeve cuffs will be worked in class.

Taught by Pam Grushkin:  I love to share my passion for knitting and crochet through teaching and designing.  My designs have been published in Vogue Knitting, Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarn, One + One Hat, One + One Wraps, Cowls, & Capelets, Tahki Stacy Charles and independently as Pam Grushkin Designs. In 2004 I began to work at Knit Together in Stamford, CT.  It was there that I created Stitch and Chat. A class dedicated to supporting knitters and crocheters.  Since then I have built a rich curriculum of classes that range from beginner to intermediate.
